China Mobile Limited, the earth's biggest mobile carrier by users, asserted that Apple chief executive officer Steve Jobs has uttered curiosity of making an iPhone associated with the Chinese carrier's network standard.

China Mobile is engaged in TD-LTE (next-generation) mobile system technologies and there have been discussions over a likely iPhone merger with the carrier. LTE stands for Long Term Evolution and is the main technology behind fourth generation mobile networks. It provides lot faster download and upload speeds than third generation.

TD-LTE means Time Division LTE, a set made by China Mobile and presently being trialed by organizations like Ericsson. It provides a well-suited path with WiMAX, which Long Term Evolution (LTE) lacks.
